THERAPEUTIC CURRENTS

The electric currents used for therapeutic purposes, compose the category of electrotherapy currents and are continuous or alternating.

Their effects during their passage through the tissues are thermal, physicochemical and neurophysiological.

By applying them we achieve analgesia (reduction of pain), local vasodilation, improvement of circulation, inflammation and swelling, increase muscle tone and help strengthen. They are also used to transport drugs to tissues (iontophoresis) and to stimulate denervated and denervated muscles.
